SRX311830: Sequencing for MinkeWhale-00 Genome by Illumina HiSeq2000 with Insert Size 5kb
1 ILLUMINA (Illumina HiSeq 2000) run: 241.6M spots, 23.7G bases, 15.2Gb downloads

Design: Whole genomic DNA extracted from the minke whale sample was sequenced using an Illumina HiSeq2000 for minke whale genome de novo assembly. The mate pair library of ~5kb DNA fragments was constructed and sequenced.

show Abstracthide Abstract
To provide a full genome sequence of the most abundant whale species in the world. It will provide a genetic diversity of the species and will help us understand how whales adapt to environmental stresses. Also, as whales are long-living, the genome comparisons may provide clues to their longevity. Finally, this study will help us figure out the evolution and phylogeny of whale.
Sample: General Sample for Balaenoptera acutorostrata of which PGI sample id is MinkeWhale-00
